Viennese apple strudel 🥰🌺😻🍀💙☺️


Strudel dough:
50 g margarine or 3 tbsp. cooking oil
200 g wheat flour
1 pinch of salt
100 ml lukewarm water
Apple filling:
1 kg apples
90 g margarine
50 g breadcrumbs
0,5 teaspoon cinnamon
100 g sugar
1 packet Vanillin Sugar
50 g Chopped walnuts
3 drops Lemon Flavour
For sprinkling:
Powder sugar


1 Prepare the strudel dough:

Melt margarine in a saucepan. Put the flour in a mixing bowl. Add the fat, salt, lukewarm water and mix with a mixer (dough hook) first briefly on the lowest, then on the highest speed to form a smooth dough. Boil water in a small pot, pour out the pot and dry it. Place the dough on baking paper in the pot while it is still hot, cover with a lid and leave the dough to rest for 30 minutes.
Grease the baking tray. Preheat the oven.
Top/bottom heat about 180 °C Hot air about 160 °C.


Peel apples and cut into fine sticks. Mix in the flavouring.
Melt margarine in a small saucepan. Divide the dough in half and roll out each half on a large floured tea towel. Spread dough thinly with a little melted fat, then stretch out with your hands into a rectangle (about 35 x 25 cm) (fig. 1). Trim the edges if they are thicker.
Spread 2/3 of the remaining fat on the dough and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top, leaving about 2 cm free on the sides.

Spread the apple sticks, sugar, vanillin sugar, cinnamon and walnuts on top, one after the other. Fold the free edges of the short sides onto the filling. Roll up the dough from the longer side with the help of the cloth and press well together at the ends. Place the strudels seam side down on the baking tray and brush with a little fat. Bake. After 30 minutes, brush the strudel with the remaining fat.

Rack: lower third Baking time: about 50 min.

After baking, leave the strudel to cool on the baking tray on a cake rack or serve warm. Sprinkle the strudel with powder sugar.
